Thank Dog I'm a Country Boy!

"Green acres is the place to be...land spreading out so far and wide...keep Manhattan just give me that countryside!"

We're off to the country tomorrow. Mommy's oldest friend (seriously, they went to kindergarten together and now he's her dentist! How weird is that?) has invited the two of us to his fantastic home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania for the weekend. It's a gorgeous old mill that's been renovated into a beautiful home. (That big window is two-stories high and overlooks the creek from the living room. Downstairs is a huge kitchen and a dining room with a big fireplace - all the walls down there are stone.)

When I'm home in the city, I usually like to sleep in until 9:00 or even 10:00 am. But in the country, I like to get up early and chase some squirrels around, sniff all that green stuff, and of course, chase down some tennis balls! There's over six acres for me to explore and I never have to wear my leash!

I can be a real doggie dog and nobody complains! Lots of long walks and exploring the creek and now that Eric has told me all about deer poopies, a new delicasy to sniff out (kinda like a truffle hound...)

There's no internets out there so I won't be able to blog or keep up with your bloggies until I get home on Sunday night. And then I'll have loads of NEW photos of me as a country dog.

Ahhh, the only way this weekend could be any better is if all of you -- Rosie especially -- were there with me! Have fun!

Hi Petey, I follow your lovestory through the Dughallmor Beagles blog. I bet Rosie would want to be with you in that beautiful house. Heck, we would all like to join you there I think. It's gorgeous. Wishing you lots of fun, enjoy your freedom and don't scare Bambi please.

Hi Petey
That looks like a great place you are going to for the weekend and we hope you have a great time.
Now for some tips - when you find any kind of animal poops, especally deer ones, get right down and have a good roll.
Remember how you have seen your Auntie Bailey perfect the technique - roll first one way and then another to get the smell all over you.
This will make you feel like top dog - you will be dog of the manor! Nobody will mess with you.
Now the creek, find a good muddy spot and again remember Auntie Bailey - get right in. Make sure that your tummy is submerged.
Unfortunately you may not be able to get your ears in which of course we can do no bother at all.
The next important thing is to sniff every inch of your six acres - take your time. Sometimes you terriers can get a bit excited but again remember the basset way. If you take your time you wont miss anything.
Don't worry about your mom - she wont even notice if you ensure she has a large glass of wine and sit her in front of the big fireplace. We find they usually then doze off and you can help yourself to any nice cheese and biscuits they have left.
Oh we wish we were coming with you to supervise that you give everything the right attention!!
Remember we love you
Aunties Martha & Bailey xxxxx
PS Missing you already!

Oh Petey! Green with envy is an understatement! We wish we could be there too, especially Rosie :D
The two of you could get completely lost in the six acres! (and we'd get a break from the "my Petey this and Sweetie that"!
Have fun!

Petey

You have been tremendous helping to highlight World Autism Awareness day and the work of assistance dogs for autism over the past few days. We really appreciate it.

All the wonderful comments from your friends have made us very happy - helped me feel a lot better, made the little man laugh a lot, really touched the little man's mum and even made the little man's dad cry!

Well actually, your post yesterday did that - when it was emailed into him in work!!) He rang home saying his secretary was wondering why there were tears running down his cheeks!! He gets very emotional about the little man and me and reading kind comments about us!

I hope you have a lovely weekend - that garden sounds amazing - wish I had all that space to run around in for a few days. Enjoy it! Looking forward to the photos too!

Have a great weekend and thank you again ... and all your blogging pals

You're a great friend

Bucks County -- Mom's old stomping ground when she was a pup in Philly Del Fie Eh!!

I asked her about it and she told me she never did see any deer poop -- but she probably wouldn't have recognized it if she rolled in it. BOL!!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend -- and sing us a cool song about being a county boy when you get back.

Jake

And oh yes, good pal, I took your advice and told Gabbi why I had been so quiet -- and she agreed to let me escort her to the wedding. Now we have to do something for JH because I don't think Princess Willow is just that into him. Any thoughts????

We has got the Jake Gabbi thing all sorted now. I does not mind, because I not ready to settle down yet anyways and I thinks Gabbi and Jake make a very good couple.

Petey. Have a fabbie weekend in the country. House looks very bootiful. Perfect place for a PARTY. Diving from the big window into the creek after a few smoothies...playing kiss chase in the garden...and hide and seek up the chimney.

Perhaps next time. I know you have impawtant stuff to do this time. Watering all six acres in a couple of days is thirsty work.

Wiry wags, Eric xx

Petey,
What a breathtaking scenery! That's where I want to live or at least being invited over the weekend, hehe.
Go on country boy, throw your leash away, enjoy fresh air, chasing squirrels.
When you back to the city, please come to my blog to pick up your 2 Rose and Friendship Awards and to see me proposing to my dream girl.
Love ya lot

Petey! That house is beautiful. Mom says she wishes she went to kindergarten with her dentist, but the only boys she remembers from Kindergarten were named Barkley and were not likely destined for Doctorhoods.

Check out my bloggie when you get home. It's an Ode to Petey. That's you!!!

Petey, Like your blog. We love the country and really enjoy it when our humans take us to their place. Mostly we go from Spring to late Fall. It is great to sniff all the sniffs, chase chipmunks and squirrels. We watch out for coyotes and bears though. They're not fun. Glad you had such a great time in the country and go again soon. NO leashes!!! WHOO HOO!!
