The Calibogue Cairn

Since the Dughallmor Beagles have a fancy location title in front of their names, I thought I'd do the same! The Calibogue (Cal-e-bogie) Sound is on one side of the Island, but it has a nice ring to it, right?

And like my beloved Rosie and the rest of the Dughallmor gang, here are some new photos from my romp on the beach this morning.

This big tree washed in a few days ago. Most of the time, it's been high tide when we've been down on the beach and the tree looks like a shipwreck. But today we could really explore it.

And like the Dughallmor beagles' photographer, Mommy just used the camera on her cell phone.

Don't you like the artsy fartsy angles? The juxtaposition of the tree branches and the incoming tidal pools? (Yeah right, Mommy!)

A study in horizontal lines....(yawn, just throw the tennis ball already! Can you find it in the photo? How else do you think she gets me to focus so intensely?

Between the branches....
Since I like giving you tours of my neighborhood in Manhattan, I thought I'd do the same here. The beach is mostly wide and flat, with soft gray sand. However, there are bands of tiny shells like these...

Hey! Here's something interesting! I wonder if it's that star I was wishing upon last night?

My Rosie Posie and my bestest pal Eric are right across this big puddle. I wonder if I could swim there? Maybe if I bark, they'll hear me!

Hey now this is some strange looking dog. I wonder where it's feet are? And that's some serious grooming! Did Lacie attack it with her patented Furminator(R)? I dropped my awesome new ball but this doggie didn't seem interested in playing.

Maybe if I sniff its butt...hmmm, interesting. Doesn't smell like any dog I've met before. Mommy stopped me before I could roll in this tantalizing scent...

Well, time for a trike ride, then maybe I'll see if the beach patrol needs my assistance. You never know when a random tennis ball may start drowning...

That's it for now. We had a humongous thunderstorm the other night. A lot louder and brighter than storms in New York. I sat in Mommy's lap and panted a lot so she wouldn't get scared. Then she had to leave and I was all by myself. When Mommy came back a few hours later, she couldn't find me. I was sleeping in Granny's closet. There are no windows in there so I couldn't see any lightning and it smells just a little bit like Granny still. I didn't feel so little and all alone in there. I'm doing a good job of keeping Mommy's face de-salted. And I was rewarded too! A nice neighbor man brought over three tennis balls for me! I am a good doggie!

Aahh, my little Cal-e-bogie boy, doggy of my dreams, thank you for sharing your beautiful beach with us all, it looks like it just goes on for miles and miles (ours does too but you can see either end of it)....I spotted the tennis ball too...well, Gabbi helped me, I was too busy admiring the hot dog, hehe :D
I wanted to ask my Daddy if he would make me a boat (he's a joiner) and I was going to use my Salty Dog Cafe bandana as a sail so it would take me straight to you but Jakey says it's almost Hurry Cane season :o( I will just wear it instead (if I wear something of yours maybe that Alfie will LAY OFFA ME!)
Did you find your Granny yet? Lacie's right, she's all around you...whether it's in her closet making you feel safe...or in the sand and the breeze on that wonderful beach...bet she'll even go back to NY with you :D
Keep dishing out those sweet kisses for your Mom my salty loverboy....see you soon.
Slobbery kisses,
Your Rosie-Posie xxxx

Hi Petey

Glad that you are looking after your Mom so well and helping her. Your Granny is most certainly looking down and watching over you - you were right to hide in her closet - thunder and lighting are very frightening.

Those were lovely beach pictures. Great that you have the beach to walk along. Beaches are special places.

Take care
Clive

You are such a sweet boy, Petey!!!

I think the Calibogue Cairn sounds totally cool!!! The Oklahoma Pug sounds kinda silly... not near as cool as yours.

Still thinking of you and your family often, Petey. Thanks for continuing to keep us updated!

Petey: You are indeed a good dog, and we know your Mom appreciates all your efforts. Please don't try to swim that whole ocean, at least not without a support team. Ummmm, maybe we could borrow a yacht and follow you?

Is that thingy called a Horse Shoe Crab ? We never knew horse shoe crabs were that BIG!

We got a new dog in the house - the Chief found him wandering about the neighbourhood. From the looks of it, he's also scared of storms. But he's much too big to sleep in any closet or on anyone's lap!

So what do you reckon we do?

Calibogue Cairn -- That is an elegant-sounding name. Ad it has so many different ways to use it and spell it -- you'll have a lot of fun with it.

We think all the time spent with the ocean and sands has to help you and your mom heal some of the rawest pain of your granny's departure. Will you be staying there much longer?

Lots of wirey love, Mr. CC.

Hey Petey! I heards you woofing! Did you hear my answer? Telling you to see if you can hire a jet ski? Meet you halfway? Cor, that beach is beautiful, real arty farty. But what the heck is that helmet thingy on the beach??? GULP. Enough to make me think I dont want to doggie paddle in there. Think I might piddle.

Hope the thunder has all blown away. I know Granny guided you to her closet for safety, that's comforting Petey. Wagging to know you are doing the same for Mommy too. Stay safe pal and look after Mommy. Give her lots of loving licks from me.

Hi Petey
We have been away but have been thinking of you. We have had a cottage right by the sea on the Isle of Skye and we heard you barking.
Remember you have lots of friends dearest Petey and we love you.
Your beach pictures were cool - it is very nice to be beside the sea and the sand. Those Dughallmor Beagles are just so lucky.
You are taking good care of your mom - extra licks from us too please. Your Gran will always be with you - especially in your scariest moments.
Give us a bark if you need us.
