You gotta have friends!

Greetings from the beach everybloggie! While I've been missing my New York City pals Asta and Bear, I thought I'd introduce you to some of my new friends down here on Hilton Head Island...

This is Harley, he's a Clydesdale at the Lawton Stables. He used to pull Budweiser carriages, but now he just gives carriage rides and mostly hangs out in a pasture with the ponies, which make him look even more like a giant.

We're both six years old, but Harley is over 6-feet tall at the shoulder and weighs over a ton!  He's a real sweetheart and comes right over to the fence when you call him (unlike me!).
We pass Harley on the way to and from the beach. Isn't he fantastic? Okay. Now off to the beach. Here's a new pal I met on our walk last night. (It's been raining off and on all day today so no beach walk today. I did get to go to Tailwaggers Shop and Bakery for some treats!)

I thought this fella might be fun to play chase with, since he looks to be made of rubber and might bounce along the beach...

...but no, he pretty much was happy just playing dead...

...so I continued down the beach looking to meet more friends to play with...

...Hey! How about this starfish gal? Let's race to see who fetches the ball first. I'll even give her a headstart...on your mark...get set...go!....

...And....she's off and running, kinda.

...but I still got there first! Hey wait a minute...where did the Starfish girl go?...

...Ahh, she ran over to meet this little cutie patootie. Her name was Colette and this was the first starfish she'd ever found!

Now, Mommy took this photo when she was out on our friends' boat, but almost every day we see these smiling guys and gals out in the waves. We even saw a baby the other day!

Now for the past four days, there's been a man down on the beach making these awesome sand sculptures. There HUGE! That lighthouse is almost 5 feet tall!

He has all sorts of equipment besides just pails and shovels. And he does something to the sand to keep them from getting blown apart or washed away by our almost daily downpours this week.
I thought I'd try my paw at sandcastle building. What do you think? It's a perfect replica of a castle near Rosie's house in Scotland, right?

Okay, that was my daily beach walk...Now enough yapping, gotta go get that ball again!

What a glorious beach! We loved the starfish and that very big horse - I still bark at them though - Paddy just wants to play with horses - sadly they don't always understand.

It looks like paradise out there - thanks for sharing the photos - lots of licks

Hi Petey

Those are great beach photos - the sandcastles are wonderful but you know, nothing can beat that dolphin photo! The little man was jumping up and down here with excitment when he saw it - his mum is trying to print it out for him now to add to his collection. Whatever it is abuot dolphins - they really connect with him.

We're glad you're having such a nice time at the beach and meeting some new friends. Take care of your Mom and don't go too close to those jellyfish!

lots of woofs

Hello there Petey,

What great pictures of you having fun on the beach! We think your attempt at sandcastling is fantastic for a dog (who uses not tools)! IF you need any help to dig we'd be happy to help out!
