Our vigil continues....

We don't feel much like blogging these days. Instead, we wake early and check in on our shaggy pals Digby and Wilf in France. Comforted when we hear sweet news — that Digby went for a walk in the garden or growled at the postmistress, heart-broken when we read of his steady decline. We've grown to love those adorable PONs as well as Angus and "The Font" and the cinematic-worthy Mme. Bay. Angus' marvelous writing takes us away to country lanes lined with chestnut trees, the spontaneous ringing of ancient church bells, and the joys and tribulations of living in an old comfortable house. We come along with them for their adventures with heifers and hens, lizards and caterpillars. And now we mourn quietly as their precious boy slips away.

Do keep them in your prayers.

UPDATE: In the past few days, our friend Digby has rallied like a champion, though he is far from recovered. As the vet said today, he shouldn't have made it this past week. Keep up your prayers and positive thoughts—this may be beyond medical explanation. And in the words of Churchill, "Never, never, never give up!"

We've been doing exactly the same -- checking in first thing in the am and several times during the day -- just to see Digby and Wilf's sweet faces and be a bit closer.

Wirey love,

They have captured our hearts as well. Angus writes so well. Have been reading his old blog and the new. Digby and his family have struck a chord with us all. Woke up at 2:45 am this morning-yep checked the computer and laughed at him growling at postlady. What a hard time. I hope their knowing that so many are keeping vigil with them helps some.
Hugs

Petey, we did not know Digby before and are sorry to meet him in such tragic circumstances.
We know blogging can be fun a lot of the time but we have also learned it can be very sad.
Somehow we are all connected over the internet in ways that continue to surprise us.
We share the pain and sadness of people/dogs we have never met.
Sometimes it reaches out and touches a pain we have deep inside ourselves.
A pain for all the loss we have felt in our lives.........a fear for all the loss still to come....a hopelessness that we cannot make things better for our friends.
Petey you are such a sensitive nephew - sometimes that makes life too hard to bear but remember you have lots of friends and your adoring aunties - we all help each other through the bad times.
We continue to hold Digby and his wonderful family in our thoughts.
Love you lots
xxxxx
