"The Bow-chelor: Doggy Style" - Episode 1 - Gaia

I've been delighted to discover so many darling doggies interested in going out for a date with me. So I decided to follow the lead of a popular television show (you know, the one that's had 1 successful long-term relationship in 12 seasons...) and try dating several young lassies before deciding on the ONE.

My very first date was with the gorgeous Gaia, fresh off her Aire Ruby flight. We only had a few hours in the city before I had to get her back to the West Coast, so we wasted no time going to beautiful Central Bark.I doubt if Gaia had ever seen so many dogs in one place. There were some pretty impressive looking fellas giving her the once over, so I decided to high-tail it over to one of my favorite statues.
It's Balto! He was famous for delivering anti-toxin serum to Nome, Alaska in 1925. He lead his team over 667 miles there (in minus 50-degree temperatures) in a record-breaking five days and seven hours. Heck it would take me that long to find my way home from Central Bark!

I decided to treat Gaia to an authentic local delicasy—some tube steaks and pretzels. Shame we couldn't wash them down with chocolate egg creams and finish with black-and-white cookies for dessert!

Next we headed over to the Alice in Wonderland statue. It's one of Mica's favorites, because of the Cheshire Cat. You can't tell here, but this statue is really huge. If Alice stood up, she'd probably be over 20' tall!

Gaia had mentioned that Stuart Little was one of her favorite books (she is still a pup, after all!) so we walked over to the Conservatory Pond where you can sail miniature boats, just like Stuart! The water looked so cool and refreshing, it was all I could do not to jump in for a little swim.

Then we heard a lot of barking...were Jake and Just Harry, the Barkalot Boys, crashing my date?
Nah, it was just this guy at the Central Park Zoo. When he saw Gaia and I together, he clapped his flippers—I took that as a good sign.

For a moment, I thought we'd run into my fellow New Yorker and dog about town, Biggie Z.
You can see how I might have made the mistake. The resemblance was uncanine. Of course, Biggie is a few pounds heavier than this guy at the zoo.

In honor of my rabbit-pondering pal Eric, Gaia and I posed for this photo.

Hmmm, I know one cute little bunny that I wouldn't mind chasing!

We walked over to the Sheeps Meadow, thinking it might be fun to chase some bah-bahs around, but when we got there, it was filled with people listening to a concert.

Taking advantage of Gaia's rather long and pointy nose and my wet one, we wriggled our way through the crowd to see who was headlining...Would it be the long-awaited reunion of The Beagles? Joss Bone or Alicia Pees? Sticky Martin? ....New Toys on the Block even???

Nope. It was just these two old guys. Oh well! Maybe next time... It was getting late in the day, the perfect time for a romantic carriage ride.

Since Gaia kept barking at the horse and scaring them, our good friend Mango stepped in. When we told Dexter he couldn't help pull the carriage due to his injured paw, he volunteered to be our "footman."

We stopped at Strawberry Fields and looked at the IMAGINE mosaic and thought of all the possibilities it brought to mind... "Imagine if..."

As the sun glinted off Gaia's curly copper coat, I looked up into her warm brown eyes and asked...
"Gaia, Will you accept this rose?"

Now I just have to wait for her answer!!!

P.S. You'll never guess who has joined the corps of the pawpawrazzi? Asta's Mommi! She was kind enough to hand over her photos to us, so no fears of us showing up in US Weekly or in Pawrez Hilton's gossip blog!

We had to carry Mumsie away from the puter...she snuck onto ur blog and was readin' the punny story and lookin' at the pics...um we think she might have dehydrated from laughin' so hard. Frankly, it looked like a pawfect date with Sweet Gaia...whose coppery curls I've also admired. Have NO idea what she may have found so amusing.

This bowchelor stuff is a FAB idea...how'd you think of it?

Bones to ya Petey...you outdid urself on that postie!

Petey, hi! Sorry I've been so late adding you to my blogroll. My Momma's a little behind! (though she HAS a big behind, har har har!)

This is such a great idea! I would love to get to meet some girl dogs. I have a few girlfriends where I am, but most of my buddies are boys. Why is it so hard to meet girls???

Maybe someday we can meet. My Momma sometimes comes as far south as the Chelsea dog run, and she STILL hasn't made it to Central Bark, believe it or not.

Central Bark was such a romantic location, the imagine mosaic, the carriage ride and of course the Rabbit posing for me was no doubt the near highlight of your date. You know that Tanner is married to a big tall Aire gal? It works out fine for them!! Looks like you had a great time on your date and Mom said she'd love to see those old guys in concert. That was real nice of Mango and Dexter to help out!

Boy Petey, catching up with your life is very exciting--compared to peeing on stuff here in Denver. You must be the most eligible bachelor in the City! What a great date.
