Mica Monday!

Yipee! It's Mica Monday once again! Here you can see me next to Mommy, dictating my post to her. Chef has tagged Petey for the Name Meme, but since he's already done it, I thought I'd take advantage of this opportunity to tell you a bit more about me.

What is your name? Mica. Mommy bought me with her first bonus when she worked in an advertising agency in Boston. Her two bosses were named Mike and Michael, so she named me in honor of them.

If you could change your name, what would it be? King Mica who only eats canned tuna and is the only pet in the house. Okay, that's kinda long.

What's your pet's name? Petey. Hey, I was here first so it's only fair that he's MY pet.

What are your brothers' and sisters' names? When Mom first got me, I had an older catsis named Moki. She was adopted from a shelter on Hilton Head Island in 1981. After she went to the bridge, Mommy brought home another black fluffy female from the shelter on Hilton Head named Maui. (Do you see a pattern of two-syllable "m" names here?) Mica got sick and went to the Bridge a few years ago. Both she and Moki were about teenagers when they passed, so we feel happy that they had nice long happy lives after leaving the shelter. Here is one of our last photos of Maui. She was very sweet with people and would wash my face for me.

If you could change their names, what would they be? Black Girl Cat 1 and Black Girl Cat 2? Nah, I like our two-syllable "M" names!

I'm tagging Sen-Chan, Socks, Gaia, Maya and Kena!

Tomorrow, August 5, is Not Of My Species Day, when we celebrate our differences and similarities with our other species friend.

Here's a hint about my favorite NOMS friend....

We also got tagged by Stanislaw for the refridgerator meme!  Remember, we just have a little New York City apartment kitchen. It is 5' by 8' -- really! -- and that's pretty average for NYC!

The front is pretty minimal - just two silly magnets of me and Petey and a cool dial that shows you how to expand or decrease recipe portions and ingredients.

But hidden on the side, Mommy has all her favorite funny magnets. Like one that says "Our Lady of Nothing to Wear," "Good Clothes Open All Doors" or "Well-behaved women rarely make history!"

Here's a photo of Grandma's wire fox terrier girl, the dearly departed Keddy. One of Petey's middle names is Keddy so that he'd be a sweetiepie like Keddy.

We cats have been meditating for Jackson as well!

I just read a post from Jackson that he's been delighted and surprised with all the cats that have been visiting him lately. And while many of us do not go out at night and limit our meowing for the food dish, we also spend a good portion of our day in quiet meditation. So while our dogs are out for those walks, I suggest we assume a prayerful position (see above) and send some purrs towards Jackson. If he has more than he needs, he can feel free to share them with other animals in need.

Ahh, see that sweet smile on my face? I'm dreaming of our happy healthy animal friends all over the world! (This blogging is exhausting! How does Petey do it every day? Time for a nap!)

Until next Monday....

Hey Mica, thank you for thinking of me. I really have been touched by all the lovely comments by cats around the world. Especially because I have a few issues with cats in real life; but my new pals are safe as long as they stay out of my back garden! J x

Mighty King Mica

You are a sage cat, I can see. My catbro, Merv, always introduces me as HIS pet dog. So, I know how Petey feels.

Merv could take a page or two from your book on the meditation positions you use. You look transcendent.

Goober love,
Stanley
