More Ka-boomies and Miscellaneous stuff...

Here's the beautiful setting for the Macy's Fireworks. If you biggify the photo, you can see the Intrepid below where there are triangular lights. The New York Pops Orchestra was aboard. To the right was a gorgeous tall ship, all outlined in lights.

This is the view from the other side of the balcony, looking over the "canyon" of buildings to Times Square.

The sunset was almost as pretty as the fireworks!

Here's a silly video with everyone singing along to the 1812 Overture! I sing better than this group and some of them were professional opera singers!

The Hudson looked like it was on fire, glowing red.

These Smiley-face fireworks were awfully cool. All the little sparkling lights you see are camera flashes - Mommy's camerawork is a bit wobbly but they looked like millions of fireflies across the city.

Okay, enough fireworks! They're always better seen firsthand rather than in photos! This is a dog blog, after all, so I figured you'd like to see a new photo of ME!

Mommy has decided to share some of the random things she's shot on her camera recently. She was uptown the other day and spied this enormous pink poodle inside Bergdorf Goodmans. Apparently, it's an art installation, but we just thought it was pretty funny.

That mannequin should give you some idea of the scale of this poodle. Bigger than Stanley! Bigger than the Relentlessly Huge Mango, even!!!

As you know, we've had almost a solid month of rain in NYC. But the other night, Mommy and Bear's Dad were having dinner when the light outside the tavern turned a strange shade of orange. Outside the window, we could see lots of people taking photos of the sky so, thinking there might be Martians landing (or Marvin the Hollow Hound!), Mommy ran outside to see what was going on.

This is the actual color of the sky. And the clouds looked like big fingerprints or cotton balls.

We'd never seen anything like it...have you?

She and her friend Beth went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday evening to see an exhibition and went up to the roof to see this installation by Roxy Paine called Maelstrom. Just looks like a big silver tree to me, but Mommy thought it was very cool.

Here is another one of her sculptures that was in Madison Square Park about two years ago. I really like it and wish they could have left it up permanently.

(Those are two sisters that Mommy's known since they went to kindergarten together!)

Anyhow, hope you all are having a ball this weekend...Or several!

Hey Petey, that ain't no 1812 Overture those silly people were "singing." Oh well, sounds like a good time.

Thanks for sharing your fireworks. Momma loves them, but is too chicken to drive into Boston to see ours.

That pink thing at the store was really scary, but not as scary as the martian sky.

Slobbers,
Mango

Great photos - couldn't watch the videos - even videos of fireworks scare me - not just the real thing. They look pretty though - just wish they weren't so loud. Paddy doesn't seem to be phased by much - we thought he was deaf - but he knows the word Treat and Dinner - so we are pretty sure his hearing is fine.

Love the photos of NYC - D wants to go - thanks for sharing - lots of licks
