Many thanks for all your kind words

Over the past week, your thoughtful comments and prayers have meant so much to me. Just being able to use this blog to express my feelings, knowing that I'd be sharing my emotions with other people who feel that the dogs and cats that share their lives are members of their families, not just pets or possessions, was of great comfort.

Petey and I both miss Mica and know it will be a long time before we stop looking for him in a nest of cushions, tapping my hand to share whatever I'm eating, or sitting by the sink, waiting for me to turn on the tap. (My friend Karen sent a card where she referenced "brushing my teeth with Mica, every time I come to visit.")

But this week is easier. Gentler. More peaceful, knowing the decision to let Mica go, no matter how difficult, was absolutely the right one. Across the miles, Petey and I leaned on your shoulders, felt your hugs.
I hope to get around to visiting all your blogs in the weeks to come. There were so many kind wishes from new friends as well as old.

We'll never forget your generousity of spirit.

We thank you for sharing him with us for as long as you did -

Especially to the end and beyond -

Yes, it so helps -

AND I'm pretty sure Mica is perched on the chair/desk/counter as you let the words out -

His feline essence will always be with you -

I guess the biggest comfort I've always found is that they never truly leave us. Hugs to you.

There will always be those special moments such as a slight breath of wind and the whooshing of the tree branches when you hear Mica calling you - you may think that you are just hearing things but it is a great thing how our furry friends at the Bridge can communicate with us. And I think too Mica may communicate thru Petey such as when Petey is just laying very quiet on your lap and even tho you may think you are loving on Petey, don't be afraid of thinking of Mica - it is very helpful to the soul and that is Petey's way of helping to heal both of you.
(Am I a crazy old woman or what?)
The days will pass and the sadness will ease - bit by bit. And I truly believe that our furry angels would not want us to be sad.

I don't remember if I told you or not but I lit a candle for Mica. It just seemed the right thing to do.

I buried my kitty out in the back yard when he passed so that he would always be with me. I may end up losing my house because I can't find a job. Losing the house pales in comparison to thinking about having to leave my kitty behind too.

Oh Petey does look so comfortable in that armchair. The photo prompted a flashback to Hamish. I still miss him, and often think about him, and those thoughts are accompanied by a quiet, fond smile and a lingering tugging feeling inside.
Best wishes,
Gail.

It is a pain we wish we weren't sharing........!
We do think it is good to be able to share with like minded people.
There are some people out there who have never had the priviledge of being owned by a cat or a dog - how much they miss.
It was the right decision though we know it was a hard one.
Take care

ps love the pic of Petey in the big comfie chair!

Yes, the sense of missing never goes away. Dakota still comes to mind almost daily in the littlest of ways. But the peaceful feelings get better as you know how happy your loved one is now.

We're still wishing we'd met you and Mica this summer, Petey. Everytime we think of you, which is often, we're reminded of the sweet bond between furries and their people, and among furries themselves.

Just as we've done with others, we're gonna encourage your moma to write down anything and everything that comes to mind about Mica (and you, too!) Moma has pages of chicken scratched notes about her previous wirey ones ... and everytime she drags them out she smiles a gentle smile and sheds a quiet tear. Your memories ... and the depth of your love ... will be with you all forever.

BTW. We mentioned Mica in our post today and wanted to let you know. We hope that the post that we picked to link to is okay ...

Much love

Hi Petey - I'm so sorry I'm late - my humans have been away on holiday for 3 weeks so I haven't been able to visit my friends at all and am so behind on the news...I was so sad to hear about Mica. We shall miss him terribly but are so happy to have been able to share a bit of his life through your blog. Hope you and your human are taking care of each other. Thinking of you from far away -

Slobbers,
