Mousetrap...

Thank you all for your kind words about Beagadoon! It was indeed a labor of love, inspired by my own sweet Scots lass, Rosie.  There have been some suggestions about our next film —everything from HMS Pinafur to South Pawcific — it may take awhile before we embark on such a large project again!

Meanwhile I've been resting and relaxing since our premiere. (Be sure to visit Rosie's blog to see the two of us in our finery, walking the red carpet!)

The other night, I was playing with my new wee mousie stuffie before I fell asleep....

I was really REALLY tired! Look at me — I'm practically upside down. Mommy said I was snoring away, twitching my paws and talking in my sleep.

Well no wonder! Look what I was dreaming about....

Just look at the size of my mousie!!! Not so "wee" anymore! (Mommy thought this photo should be titled "I smell a rat!" Actually, it was a very nice mousie.)

That's the last time I drink one of Lacie's Glenlivet smoothies so close to bedtime...

In other news....

I got some real mail the other day - addressed to me! It was from Stella and Stanley, the royal family of Gooberstan! Inside was a Christmas card that had been sent to the wrong address months ago. Plus some wonderful photos of my pals (I have the one of Stella and Stan in my wallet right now). AND.... TWO marvelous wonderful gooberlicious squeaky TENNIS BALLS!!!!

Can you see how I've already customized it, by removing strategic bits of green fuzz to add to its aerodynamic qualities? I loved my new squeaky ball so much, I started playing with it with the doorman in the lobby before we even went upstairs to our apartment.

Now, there is a sad part to this story... That night, I was taking my ball with me for my late night walk. I like to do this, sometimes I show off for Bear or the doorman. I just keep my head down until we're outside then I look up at Mommy and smile and she says "Oh Petey!" because she knows I can't poo and hold a ball at the same time, which means she's probably going to be looking under cars to retrieve it for me.

Anyhow, I was bouncing the ball around the park across the street when tragedy struck—the ball bounced through the iron railings of the fence around the park. I could SEE the ball, nestled in the dirt next to some daffodil shoots, but I couldn't get to it - not even after dragging Mommy around to all three of the entrances to the park. We went out the next morning, right after the park had opened but it was gone.

Thank you for sending TWO balls, Stan and Stella. This time, I'll be more careful.

Finally, for those of you who think that the streets of New York are paved with gold, well, you're close....

They're actually paved with copper—gazillions of copper pennies!

Penny for your thoughts?

Petey: That is a shame about your ball. Perhaps some poor homeless doggie found it and fell in love with it. It will be his good luck tennis ball and help him find his furever family,.

Feel better?

hopefully that Ball is making some other dog or human happy right now! Stan and Stella are pretty pawesome.

We were pretty tired after the big show too and we didn't even have any Glenlivet smoothie. Dad sure would love one tho, he goes crazy for that Scotch stuff.

As your Aunties we must insist you take it easy. You must be exhausted after your Beagadoon production.

The effect that wee whisky had on you tells us that you need to rest. Your imagination was always overactive, even when you were a boy.

Even your dreams are filled with ideas - for a minute we were worried you were going to do a remake of Toy Story.

We thought you looked most handsome and Rosie very beautiful in your finery at the premiere!

We will have that picture framed and it will take pride of place in our living room.

lots of love

We are so sorry that someone snitched your new ball, Petey! Lots of times Mitch finds balls on our walkies and mom is forever telling him not to take it because it belongs to someone and not him!

Love ya lots

I was terribly sorry to hear about your tennis ball, and I could empathise! The other day, mine rolled down the hill and into the donkey's field, and they weren't giving it up! You always need to have supplies!

We are so glad that you had an extra ball. Otherwise, this would have been a very tragic story! Our mom says that when you find a penny on the ground, it is actually a penny tossed from heaven from a loved one that has passed. Looks like you are a lucky dog!

Petey,

I know both the joys and miseries of the tennis ball. I take mine on walks too and I have mastered pooping with a tennis ball in my mouth. It just takes practice. You're only six, dude. By the time you're almost 10 like me, you'll have it down.

Now that Beagadoon is over, I can revert back to my usual detached divaness. Keeping up that snotty and demanding diva persona is hard work. Now I remember why I retired from the Russian Imperial Ballet.

Mom says to tell you, she just about fell off her chair and melted when she saw your sleeping picture. I don't know what the deal is. It's as if she is all mushy for you or something. I can sleep cute like that too, you know. I just choose not to.

Hi Petey

It may be a male Scottish terrier thing. I too find myself unable to concentrate on any other task whilst doing a poop.....

Oh sorry, too much information perhaps?

Sorry to hear about your lost ball, Petey. I HATE it when I lose any of my tennis balls. Once I lost TWO tennis balls after I buried them in the sand while playing at the beach. When it came time to go home I had forgotten where I had buried them! It was a very tragic day. That is one ginormous mouse! Were you running away from it in your dreams?

Petey,
You look like a sack of potatos all sleeping on those pillows. Quite an exhausting few weeks.

You are very sneaky to get the tennis ball outside and then make your mom hold it whilst you do your business. She should be more careful about letting it roll away, though.

Mango

Petey. A penny for my thoughts?Okey dokey. Here they are.. do you think the big mousie pinched your ball? Or the DOORMAN??? Did you get a headache after sleeping upsidey down? Does you wee mousie stuffie wee? What do you do with the strategic removed bits of floof from the tennis balls? Do I look as good as you in our matching collars and leads? Should you practice pooping and holding the ball at the same time? Was your Mom mad with you? Why are those pennies on the pavement? How many of them do you owe me for my thoughts?

Wondering....Eric xxxx

Ah Petey, if I could tell you how many time I've dropped a toy it the street, or under the snow, and never got it back... but you know, I always find toys too. So one of these days, you're going to find something another dog lost. It all evens out in the end. Geez, you're getting cuter by the day!

What a weird dream Petey!

I feel your pain with the tennis ball. I lost mine in a stream the other day and made mum follow it all the way down but then it got washed out to sea. :(
