Under my thumb

Mommy calls this photo her ode to the Rolling Stones.

We've had such nasty weather the past week - it's been 8 days since my last romp on the beach. But fortunately, the weather cleared and we got one last beach walk in this morning. We got to the beach at 9:50 a.m. which was kind of a problem since the rules for dogs on the beach change today. Dogs are only allowed before 10:00 am and after 5:00 between the Friday before Memorial Day and Labor Day. We ran past the lifeguard stands and once we were out of range, Mommy let me off the leash for a good tear down the sand. Boy, it's going to be funny to be back on the sidewalks of Manhattan tomorrow. (And in our two room apartment instead of a 3-bedroom house.)

Well, one island is as good as the next, right? See you back in New York!

Isn't 8 days a week a Beatles song?

Oh sweet Petey - we are sorry you have to go home - we love our holidays and walks on the beach too. But not those stupid beach rules!

We know all about blustery beach walks - D says they are very invigorating - I am not so sure...

Lots of licks

Hi Petey
We have some stupid rules on the city beach here in Aberdeen. Which is totally unfair as 90% of the year, the only creatures who use the beach are dogs and their owners! We too are occasionally 'flexible' in our interpretation of the rules!
Have a good trip home.
Cheers! Hamish.

Hi Petey
Some beaches in the UK are blue flag and that usually means restrictions on dogs.
As you know it is the humans that dont pick up that are the problem!
Sorry your weather hasn't been so great - we were nearly blown away on Skye when we were on holiday - at least you dont have the same problem with your ears!
Eric has suggested headscarfs like the Queen wears so we are investigating those.
We expect once you return home you will have a few suggestions for us.
Oh how we have missed our favourite nephew - safe journey.
love you lots

I for one would love to be on the sidewalk of Manhattan. The beach is good but I think NYC is pretty good too, even though I've never been.
Glad you got to have a good run on the beach Petey.

glad you got one last romp - we're going to Daufuskie in July - I hope I can be on the beach with no restrictions.....that would be cool

Maybe waiting to go to the beach makes it more fun? NOT! I am sure you found other amusements.

Since our parents were on the sidewalks of Manhattan not too long ago, and observed all the urban dogs, we know what you're saying.

But there are lots of treasures too. By the way, they left something for you with Asta -- don't forget to claim it!! Sorry we missed you.

Safe trip back!!

Hi Petey,

I'm sad you are leaving the beach. I enjoyed seeing what odd things you found there. But I'm sure the other island will be good too!

It'll be good to get home. All your familiar things (and friends) will be there. We're glad you got turned around on the beach. Last time we saw you you were running south. (We wish WE could run free on the beach, but we might end up in Mexico. We don't know how to stop or come to our names quite yet!)

Glad you had a great time. It did look like a GREAT time!

I hate beach rules too. Pretty soon I won't be allowed on the beach closest to where I live so I'm bummed about that. Glad to know that you had fun on your last day at the beach and I hope you have a safe trip home!
