Island Hopping...

So, this was me on my walk this morning...running for miles on flat open beach, finding hapless humans to throw the ball for me endlessly, stopping to cool off my belly in the water....

And this is me this evening...running around on 4,000 sq. ft. of asphalt, finding hapless humans to throw the ball for me endlessly, and stopping to cool off my belly in the water!

I'm happy no matter what island I'm on!

Here are a few more vacation snapshots... Here I am taking a break down at Harbourtown.

I checked out this yacht for me and Rosie...then we could sail back and forth between the US and Scotland...
Maybe I'll climb this tower and send her a message in morse code!

This is my new friend Brownie. He's a Chiuhorkie! A chiuhuahua/Yorkshire Terrier mix. We met on the beach one morning and got to be friends, then we met up three more days. He lives in Atlanta, but his Mom and Dad met on the Island the same time Mommy was living there when she got out of college two hundred years ago. All of us went out for breakfast one morning after our beach walk and our people discovered that they had lots of friends in common.

Okay, after our morning run on the beach, we're off for a bike ride. Wheeeeee! This is an action shot that Mommy snapped in motion!

Hey! Look where we ended up...visiting an old friend (does my bologna tongue look especially long? It was hot! You should have seen Mommy panting!)

Look! It's my pal Harley, the adorable Clydesdale. He trotted right over to the fence when Mommy called him. He's much better behaved than I am (more about that later.)

Harley's so big - even bigger than Stanley of Gooberstan, if you can believe it — that he leaned over the fence and we gave each other a friendly sniff. Mommy was scrambling to find the camera and missed the moment. Again!

We do have nobel profiles though, don't we?

Now. I have to tell you the big trouble I got into today. Bigger than when Rosie ran away for hours looking for me in Scotland. Since we were flying back to New York today, we went to the beach early, then Mommy let me out on the deck to dry off in the sun. Biggify the photo so you can see me!

She's put a baby gate by the stairs down to the yard so I can't get out. I love it out there - I can bark at anyone going by and keep an eye out for squirrels.

So I've been outside for about 20 minutes when Mommy gets a call from the next door neighbor. She'd just seen me running past their house...headed toward the lagoon. If you look between the trees, you can see how close we are to the lagoon.

Here's a view of our next-door neighbor's house - they are even closer to the lagoon. Mommy tore out of the house without even putting on shoes, calling my name very loudly and urgently...

Because this is who lives in the lagoon!!! And he likes to sunbathe up on the bank, on the same side of the lagoon. Mommy was panicked when she didn't see or hear me. She was afraid that the gator had gobbled me up!!!

Fortunately, she found me hanging out next to the neighbor's house - and no gator in sight. She was VERY mad that I didn't come when she called me and she scooped me up and carried me home. I knew she was very upset and VERY MAD at me. I was a very bad boy. I was planning to come when she called me...just not right away.

I promised that I'd only go see this alligator on the porch from now on.

So now I'm back in New York and the only alligators around are the ones who live in the sewers, so I guess I'll stay out of trouble...for now!

Hi Petey,
Well you really are a 'cup half full' kind of a guy aren't you. But I can't help thinking that a real beach is just a teeny weeny little bit better than all that asphalt. I hope you get to go back before long and meet up with your new friends.
But steer clear of those 'gators!
Cheers, H.
PS Still v. envious of the bicycle rides..

Oh adventures pale in comparison to yours. Worstest Beastie I ever faced down was a muzzer in Rage! Whew. Now I know why dad is so quiet. (and she was angry because I didn't come when I was called!)

Glad you and your mom are back in New Yawk where most of the wild life is two legged.

Woooos Petey! I am glad to see that gator did not have you for lunch! Mom gets worried when I escape too because of the gators here and cars... I love the swimming shots, I like to cool off my belly too!

Oh my god Petey! My mom spend a week with a Chorkie too. I wasn't worried for a second with that gator scare. You are far too resourceful for such nonsense, but I do think you should just hang on the deck in the future. Remember, the further from mom the further from cookies ... and tennis balls too.

Living where we do, we know all about what gators think about small dogs!! Lunch!!

So we're glad you were smart enough to hang out near your neighbors porch -- and saved your mom's sanity!

Glad you're back on the big island!!!

WOW that was a close call - I am sure that Gator would have enjoyed you for breakfast and not as his guest - you need to be very careful when gators are around!
Thank goodness the neighbor called your mom!!

The Adventures of the LLB Gang said... had such an awesome vacation!! Good call not going near that scary teeth monster and going to the neighbor's house instead...Bet your Mom was really very happy to see you and just pretended mad feelings!

Hi, Petey...

Sounds like you had a great vacation...

But...OMdoG...You shouldn't scare your Mom like that...And, I'm sure you should never run around where there at alligators...

If you try to take that "Yacht" across the "Pond" to see Rosie, be sure to take your Life Jacket...OK??

Welcome home Petey - we loved your post - you are just the cutest in that little basket on the bike!
We were very frightened when we saw that horrible big alligator - how dreadful if he had eaten you!!!
It looks like a great place for a holiday - you are so lucky!
We thought your wedding was wonderful and were sure we commented before we went off on holiday at both yours and Rosie's blog.
In retrospect your Auntie Bailey felt her outfit was a mistake for mother of the bride and she is blaming me for choosing it!
She thinks the top was inspired by Martha Stewart but the bottom by Brittany!
We learned a lot about wedding customs in Scotland!!!
The pictures were brilliant - we knew they would be - you are very clever!
love and kisses

Loved all the photos - except that one of the nasty Gator! I ran off the other day too! But the beast I was chasing was a nasty squirrel - my Mom made the same high pitched sounds because i got close to the road. Glad you made it back safe and intact - Paddy is happy anywhere too! He is like you - loves life no matter where he is!

Lots of licks

Petey, we've missed so much and we're scurrying about trying to catch up! We can only imagine your moma's concern when you were loose with a gator! We saw one this summer, and Moma wouldn't let us within 200 yards of it, she was so nervous!

A new friend ChiYorkie (that's not right, but you know what we mean!) We think that our uncle Andy might've had a chihuahua for a daddy. He had the same mommy as his litter-mate-sissie Chloe, but it's pretty clear their mommy was fooling around!

We're glad you're back. We're glad we're back. We've missed you!
