Revenge of the Flaky Lakie

On our recent trip to Paris this past weekend, a certain Lakeland Terrier from Pittsburgh who lives with a Wire Fox Terrier and an Airedale but who shall be nameless, apparently mistook this:
...for one of these:
Which she proceeded to drag around Paris with her, quaffing Coke Zero from it at every and all opportunities.

This was despite warning a certain brown and white girlfriend of hers not make the same mistake.

Instead, once she found out that she truly had a "potty mouth" she took her revenge on three poor hapless terriers.

Here first victim was Eric Square Dog, next she came after me, and finally, Archie wandered in, wondering why his so-called girlfriend had already filled 4 Little Bark Books less than two months into the new year.

Several empty cans of Mango Gas Triple Strength were found near the victims, along with a warm cup of Coke Zero, a furminator blade, and a black and gold Terrible Towel. There was also a pink bedazzled cellphone, on which the last call had been made to a certain Miss Asta of New York City.

While Mango Gas is toxic in high quantities, it is not lethal, however it can stun its victims, rendering them unconscious for up to 12 hours.  It is also highly flameable.

Police sketch artists have been painting mugshots of the alleged perpetrator across the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. Interpol may be called in should more victims be found.

In the meantime, I'm sleeping off my attack...dreaming of a Rosier tomorrow! Sweet dreams indeed!!!

Happy Birthday Dear Mica!

For seventeen years and 48 weeks, this little fellow has ruled our home.

Yes, that's a photo of the first photo of Mica that Mommy ever took, when he was just 6 weeks old and about as big as a minute. (This was in the pre-digital age...right around the Jurrasic age. If he'd been born a month earlier, this would probably be a cave painting)

And this is how Mica will most likely spend his birthday. Overdosing on catalogs and catnip.

However, earlier today, we celebrated with this lavish cake, decorated with carob-dipped mice!
(There was a nice tuna pate between the layers and it was iced in cream.)

Ever since he got his driver's license two years ago, Mica's been hankering for some wheels of his own. So I got him this customized Mica-Cooper (or the Mini-Pooper, as it has its own litterbox in the back!)

And from across the pond came this lovely royal decree from Eric and Otis!

"Mica! Wishing you a swishy tail purrrrrrfect birthday! Love and kissies, Eric & Otis"

Truly, it is a wonderful birthday for a cat worth his weight in solid-gold!

I love Paris in the (almost) Springtime!

As promised, Eric made a few calls on the royal phone and persuaded his pals at British Airways to toss him the keys to the retired Concorde, for a quick spin across the big pee to pick up me, Lacie and his darling Toffee.

Before we knew it, we were landing at Charles DeGaulle in Paris~we cracked the windows and waved our flags to celebrate our birthday weekend (Toffee's was last week, mine is next Thursday).  And where better to celebrate than in Gay Paree!!!

Still swooning from his romantic Valentine's weekend with Toffee in London,  Eric felt like recreating that classic romance, set in the city of love..."I love your furry face..."

It got us all a-singing as we hit the town!

"I want to step out, down the Champs-Elysees,
From the Arch of Triumph to the Petit Palais.
That's for me....Bonjour, Paree!"

"I want to wander through the Saint-Honore,
Do some window-shopping in the Rue de la Paix,
That's for me....Bonjour, Paree!"

(I think Lacie was actually asking me for more Euros when this photo was snapped.)

"We're strictly tourists, you can titter and jeer.
All we want to say is La Fayette we are here
On a spree...
Bonjour, Paree!!!"

Toffee then decided to recreate one of the most famous scenes from the movie...when the beautiful young model (Audrey Hepburn) comes gliding dramatically down the staircase at the Louvre, with Winged Victory behind her...

Lacie inadvertently recreated a scene similar to one in the movie as well when we went to see the ballet at the Palais  Garnier, alson known as the Opera de Paris. (You may remember it as the setting of Phantom of the Opera. It is now home to the magnificent Paris Corps de Ballet.)

Well, the curtain had just gone up on the first act when an usher came to escort Lacie out for munching on popcorn! With her mouth open! She stormed out in a huff. Unfortunately, paparazzi were waiting and caught this shot of her which appeared the next day on the front page of Le Figaro!
Meanwhile, Eric and Toffee—who have clearly lost their heads—headed to the balcony for a bit of snogging. Let them eat (pup)cake!

Her feathers soothed, Lacie and I headed to Montmartre and the famous Moulin Rouge. Before I knew it, Lacie was transformed into a modern-day Jane Avril, doing a saucy can-can!

Where were Eric and I while the girls were up to such adventures? Enjoying a bagette or two as we basked in the sunshine in our new berets and ascots. We're a couple of chic chiens, n'est ce pas? Oh oui, mes petits!!!

Of course, Fall Fashion week in Paris is later in March, but Lacie pulled some strings (actually, she bit the store manager) and got an invitation for Toffee and her to preview the Spring Couture collections. Note the "Square Dog Shoulder Pads" - a must for Spring 09!
Who needs a recession when you can make such a fashionable impression?

I think they have that certain "je ne sais paw."
(Especially wearing those chapeaux!)

As the sun set over the Seine, Lacie and I went crusing on a romantic bateau mouche past Notre Dame, the Musee D'Orsay and the Eiffel Tower. Then I noticed the special hot air balloon she had arranged to fly overhead as my birthday surprise! (You'll never guess who was aboard...here's a hint - they've been "floating on air" since Valentine's Day!)

On Sunday morning, we popped into the famous Cafe de Flore in the heart of St. Germain des Pres on the Left Bank (Mommy's favorite arrondisement!) for "un petite dejeuner" before we headed back to the airport. A little cafe au lait, some buttery croissants with fresh butter and preserves...oohlala!

Eric and Toffee indulged in a little "French" kissing while Lacie looked for the waiter to get another pain au carob. And me? Well, I thought that this was just about the best birthday celebration ever!

And now...back to New York to celebrate Mica's 18th birthday!!! (That's a whole box of candles!)

Asta's here for the whole day!

I'm busy getting ready to catch the Concorde to Paris this evening with my date Lacie, and Toffee and Eric. We're going away for a festive weekend to celebrate Toffee's birthday last week and my birthday next week!

Anyhow, Asta's Mommi and Daddi went to Rhode Island today to collect Mommi's beautiful paintings from the gallery. Then they're going up to Boston for a quick visit with Agatha and Archie and with Toffee and Riley (no doubt to advise Toffee on what to pack for her romantic weekend!)

Fortunately, I was able to convince Asta to come over here and advise me on my wardrobe, as she always does such a nice job picking out things for Stanley.

We were so well-behaved, Mommy couldn't help snapping a couple of photos of us.

I like to make a little nest on the daybed cushions. It's a trick that Mica taught me.

Here's a little preview of Eric and I trying out our new Parisian looks - you can just call us "L'Eric et Pierre Le Petit."

Stay tune for what should be an action-packed weekend in Paris.

Of course, we need to be back by Sunday for Mica's 18th Birthday celebration! Tell me, does this cat look old enough to vote?

On a very serious note, our prayers for Bogart's Dad continue every moment.

As you can imagine, this is an extremely stressful time for Bogart and his family. Please continue to shine your love and support to them—it truly is a comfort.

10 Random Things about Me

My buddy Neko gave me this Honest Scrap Award that's been circulating the blogs. An opportunity to talk all about ME??? I couldn't resist it.

1.) I don't really know how to play with other doggies. I'll wag my tail, give 'em a sniff, but that's about it. I don't know how to play bitey-face or zoomies. I just want to play with people.

2.) I like to sleep in late. Sometimes I go to bed at 11:00 and don't wake up and walk into the living room until 10:45 the next morning.

3.) Everyone at the bank knows me by name. That's because I always get cookies when we go in there. Mommy just drops my leash and I run over to my friend Denise (or one of her colleagues) who always stop what they're doing to give me a cookie.

4.) I'm very vocal. I talk in my sleep. And when I get frustrated or over-excited, I throw my head back and howl.

5.) I love little white dogs. My girlfriend was Betty, but she just wasn't that in to me.
My next true love was a West Highland Terrier named Ruby - I was Ashton Kutcher to her Demi Moore. Here's a photo of me and Ruby.
Then there was Sophie, a sassy Maltese. Even now, if I see a little white doggie on my walk, I get all wig-wagging excited.

6.) While I love to run into the ocean, I'm not really crazy about swimming when my feet can touch the bottom.

7.) Almost every time I go out into the snow, I find a ball. Under a car (Mommy says I think they are big chickens laying balls instead of eggs) or buried in the snow. Literally dozens.

8.) I may pretend not to at first, but once I have clothes on, I'll keep them on for hours and hours. I wore my Halloween costumes for over six hours without a fuss - even the silly bee hat!

9.) I am nuts about kids. Whenever I hear the 2-year old little boy down the hall or our neighbors' two granddaughters, I run to the door and whimper and cry until Mommy lets me out in the hall to play with them. I have to stop and watch the kids whenever we go past the playground.

10.) I'm not a kissy dog. Very rarely will I bestow a kiss. But I do curl my upper lips back and smile when I greet my favorite people and wiggle all over. Mommy's never been able to capture it on film but it's pretty funny. Asta's and Eric's mommies have seen me do this and can vouch for me!

Okay, I need seven friends to now complete this list...Eric, Lacie, Amore, and the beagle gang - Alfie, Rosie (sigh!), Snoop and Gabbi!

Have fun times 10!

Now for something REALLY important!

As you all know, Mangominster wraps up this evening with the thrilling Best in Show awarding. It's been an amazing week, one that introduced many different dogs (and bloggies) to one another. A RELENTLESSLY HUGE SUCCESS!

As well as a MANGO-size amount of time-intensive hard work! So let's reward them by voting for  Mango's Great Adventures as the DWB Awesome Blog of the Month. I mean, there are some sensational blogs out there, but I think you'll all agree that none have been better than Mango's this month!

(By the way, could someone recommend me to the DWB authorities so I can cast my vote for Mango's site? Just email opy@gruffpuppy.com/au and tell them I'm a swell guy who can be trusted to leave nice posts! Thanks!)

Now all together..."MANGO MAN! OH YEAH!!!!"
